00:05 : 97 years since the nuclear apocalypse? I feel like this is a change, and a very impactful one at that! If Vera is Kane's mom and Kane is an adult. Vera would have to either have been one of the astronauts or the child of one of the astronauts. I don't think 97 years is enough to get a population this big or systems this dialed in. 02:28 : For whatever reasons, this section always reminds me of The OA. Either way, I would not want to turn around and see bloody Clarke coming at me. 03:57 : That moment, when you realize you may have overreacted. Learning to back down in these situations can save your life so much hassle. 04:47 : Alright, I had forgotten where the leftbehinds had ended up. I do love when a story does these subgroup separations, though. 05:38 : We are not past the simple strategy of killing randos to display the danger. However, I thought both Finn and Tristan were well within the blast radius of the dropship? Will they explain how they survived? 06:30 : Woot! Our first exposure to Trigedasleng and it comes from Octavia. So, if you didn't read the forward, this is a made up language (like Klingon) that was satisfying enough for people to want to learn to speak it. This fanbase has driven the guy who made it to expand it until it was something they could become fluent in. I only know the basics. I cannot hold a conversation. It gets my goose, 1000%. "Ai laik Okteivia kom Skaikru" - I am Octavia of the Sky People. "en ai gaf gouthru klir" - and I seek safe passage. The hidden joke here is that she says "klin", rather than "klir". Klin is finality, so it's like saying she wants to go with finality (suicide). Klir is like unrestricted, unharrassed, unharmed. The language is goofily similar to just saying English things with an accent. "gouthru klir" is basically "go through clear". It's super fun and satisfying, though. 09:37 : This is a complicated scene! Raven must have just been laying there for some time. When we last saw her, she was passed out from Murphy's bullet pressing on her spine. I don't know, in what universe, Murphy thinks he can talk himself out of this vengeance, though. 10:53 : It sucks being right. 11:58 : I'm gonna go ahead and suggest that non-prisoners don't need to be convinced they're not prisoners. 13:06 : Props to Clarke for always continuing the fight. 14:13 : This is one of the science things I'm most skeptical of and a lot of the story hinges on it. I can accept it for the fiction but I really wish I knew if it made any sense at all. 17:23 : It really is enough of a reason. Dying alone is a terrifying prospect. I worked in an old folks home for a while. The loneliness is unimaginable. 20:22 : Honestly, this is why I don't talk to anyone about any serious topic. People really don't like it, when you're seriously invested in something. "Too much", "Extra", "Too intense", but really you just super care. Better to pretend nobody likes, cares, or tries at anything, I suppose. 22:07 : Y'all know I'm a Clarke hater, but girl is doing the job today. 22:35 : I often sound alarms and send multiple units with guns to instersect my non-prisoners. 23:00 : You are Upkru or you are Downkru, choose! (This won't be funny until Season 5) 23:54 : This is very interesting to me. What threat is Maya likely to face, inside a sealed bunker, that necessitated her being this familiar with getting and using an automatic weapon? 24:08 : The sign on the wall says, "DO NOT EXIT WITHOUT HAZMAT PROTECTION". So, I don't think opening this door would actually kill anybody. I think this is a separate, sealed exit that only poses a risk to the immediate area. Only people who chased her would suffer. 24:19 : There's a goddamn eye flush station. This exit is 100% fine. 25:45 : They're turning villain John Murphy into a person. I'm fine with that. I do think he's probably sorry for shooting Raven. He was just trying to get his revenge on Bellamy and things went awry. 27:07 : Fuck yeah, Monroe! Let's get it! 27:54 : Alright, but Monroe and Gunter were willing to take on a General directly. Big props. 30:40 : Just Raven doing good guy things. 32:00 : Rules are important but you should probably also at least address the accusation of double muerte. 38:46 : Love to see it. 42:03 : That is NOT what you want to hear, alone on a space ring.
This had to be a weird week of filming for Octavia. She basically just laid around dying. The show didn't even attempt to make us take her pain seriously. Which is good I think, because we know she ain't gonna die. I'm coming around on Clarke. That spirit of endless battle is something I can really get behind. Dante is just less hot Suspicia. I liked that Abby left Clarke a note. Seems like we set the stage for a lot to happen. I'm excited for it.
