Naruto Setting Doc - Setting Intro - These rules are intended to facilitate a Words of Power campaign, set in the universe but not the storyline of Naruto. They are intended to capture the early low-magic days of the show. Players may choose to be a part of an existing family or add to the lore of the village. Allow each player to claim their space and take control of that lore. This setting should be suitable for running individual ninja missions (west marches?!) or grand narratives about tailed beasts. Hyuuga Byakugan* Noble Inuzuka Beast Wild Might Power Taijutsu Expert Nara Shadow Tactician Uchiha Sharingan* Elite Yamanaka Transfer Stylish - Rule Changes - * The number of words you can use for casting spells scales with level, starting at 1 (no magic) * Counterspelling does not modify the spell being cast * You must cast a spell of your own * Your counterspell must use fewer words than the spell it would stop or be prepared in advance * Counterspells are not just free casts, they must address the situation by stopping or evading * Families will provide an Inherent Word and a Tag, rather than two tags * This Tag is additional, the Inherent Word counts as one of your three starting * Some words may be declared as bloodline traits * Players cannot choose these outside of their family at level 1 * Storytellers may provide other means of obtaining (eye grafting, etc)
